'The Zen' Fightshorts

Part of the APEX Predator Series. Same V2 cut as 'The Killer Croc' Fightshorts — the step up from New Wave and Wordmark — in a dusty red and mint green colourway that matches 'The Zen' Jersey. Three vertical 禅 (Zen) kanji running down the right leg, mint green panels on the inner thigh, single APEX brushstroke on the front waistband.

The details:

• Sturdier, heavier polyester/spandex blend. More substantial feel than our V1 shorts, same stretch and range of motion.
• Redesigned cut with curved corners and side slits — modern above-the-knee length, cleaner silhouette, same mobility.
• Stretch crotch panel for full range on kicks, sprawls, and guard work.
• Weighted elastic waistband with flat internal drawstring — sits flush, no poking into your hips when you're on the ground.
• Sublimated graphics on the front leg, won't peel or crack.
• Embroidered woven label on the outside.

The story: 'The Zen' started with a Japanese poster — dusty red, mint green, nothing else. We kept the same restraint across the kit. The shorts carry the kanji 禅 (Zen, meaning peaceful and calm) down the leg and that's most of the design. No all-over print, no layered graphics, no slogans shouting at you.

Who it's for: MMA, BJJ, Muay Thai, grappling — any discipline where V2 shorts get worn hard. The cut handles sparring and competition equally well.

A note on the upgrade: If you've owned our New Wave or Wordmark shorts, V2 is the same principles built heavier. The lighter V1 shorts still have their place — good for hot gyms, long sessions, making weight — but V2 is the pick if you've ever wished your shorts felt a bit more like shorts and less like a swim trunk.
